Charity Fundraiser Raises £1,250 for SportsAid

Earlier this month we launched a charity auction with our sponsored athlete 15 x Ironman Champion, Bella Bayliss, to raise money for SportsAid and what a success it has been.
Within a couple of days of the launch we already had three bids competing for the opportunity to spend the training with the international triathlete in London. And, after 10 days listed on eBay, the unique professional triathlon training experience sold for a whopping £500 with all the proceeds going to SportsAid.
But that’s not all!!! Someone who missed out on the bid contacted Bella Bayliss directly and asked to join the training day promising to donate a further £500 to SportsAid. In addition to this the bidders are both London based so we have donated the £250 allocated for the winner’s accommodation and travel to the cause, bringing the fundraising total to £1,250.
With over 330 page views and five bids, the item was top of the hot list for a number of triathlete fans looking to train this summer.
Our managing director Dirk Mischendahl, who initiated the idea comments; “We are delighted with how successful this charity auction has been and how much money we have raised for SportsAid. The twist in the final moments with the additional £500 donation was extremely exciting too. We really didn’t know if this was something people would be interested in or not but we wanted to try something different and raise money in a unique way for SportsAid.
“It seems this was the right mechanism to do this and the right demographic too. The amount of money that we have raised will go towards helping young British Sportsmen and women in Yorkshire and Scotland, hoping to develop a career in sport.”
Bella Bayliss adds; “I am ecstatic at how successful this auction has been and so pleased we have raised such a significant amount of money for SportsAid. I am really looking forward to the training day this summer and glad I was able to give back to SportsAid and help them as they helped me all those year’s ago.”
The training day will take place this summer in London, where the two lucky triathlon fans will be swimming, cycling and running with Bella Bayliss in a six hour professional triathlon training session.
