Sustainable Stand Selection for British Gas Business

British Gas Sustainability Stand at SustainabilityLive

For the second year running our design and build company, CuratedSpace, helped British Gas Business to create a sustainable and impactful exhibition stand for the Sustainabilitylive! show held at the Birmingham NEC earlier this month.

The national energy supplier required a cost effective 11m x 9m stand to promote the Energy360 brand to its stakeholders and due to the very nature of the exhibition, it was key for the stand to demonstrate an innovative approach to sustainability.

Similar to last year, British Gas Business chose to create its stand using ‘Set Selector’, a versatile range of ‘off-the-shelf’ exhibition kits available to hire from CuratedSpace. Set Selector offers a selection of ‘blank canvas’ stock items, which can be individually branded with visual graphics on every surface and customised to suit individual needs to create a cost-effective high impact modular exhibition stand solution.

British Gas Business reviewed the various hire kits available - from promotional through to exhibitions, conferences and hospitality - and chose the following individual stock stand items:
- Large storage area with wall space available for branding
- Internally illuminated smoothie bar
- Four conference armchairs
- Two lightbox tables
- Modular cupboard units with integrated storage for demo area
- Two curved reception desks
- Low curved modular wall
- Modular raised floor and access ramps

In addition to the chosen stock items from Set Selector, CuratedSpace also designed, manufactured and built some bespoke elements to the stand, such as an interactive video wall, overhead lighting arch and three elliptical columns with integrated LCD screens to give the stand greater visual impact.

Once the stand elements were chosen, British Gas Business and its retained design agency Base One Group, worked with CuratedSpace to configure and develop the layout and formation of each item and shape the look and feel of the whole stand.

The stand was live for three days before being broken down and taken back to the CuratedSpace 23,000 sq ft warehouse and all elements of the stand after use have gone back into stock to be refurbished for another client job.

Utilising existing stock items not only helped to reduce the cost to exhibit but also helped British Gas Business to keep its impact on the environment to a minimum.
