M&S Food Going Live in 3... 2... 1...
M&S launches its very first Food “On Air” broadcast as a new communications channel, to engage with more M&S store colleagues across the UK and Ireland, without actually taking them out of store.
Working closely with M&S Food, we worked creatively and collaboratively across the Logistik Group to create M&S Food “On Air” a 40 minute radio style broadcast to introduce the Food Spring priorities to its food Commercial teams, as well as outline the business vision, targets and ambitions for the coming season.
Our internal communications specialists, Triffid, helped to write engaging scripts for key representatives from the M&S Food group, who featured in the broadcast. Influenced by commercial radio broadcasts, the team created different radio items, such as a selection of studio interviews, location reports, sound bites, countdowns and music clips. To add a real life dimension to the show and limit any possibilities for live error, a number of these feature sections were also pre-recorded by BrandNew, our multimedia agency.
Prior to the show going live M&S store colleagues received a booklet, which gave instructions on how and when to listen to the broadcast via a conference call. To bring the broadcast to life and ensure delegates could ‘taste-test’ the new products, all the food items due to be discussed on air were detailed in the booklet, so listeners could take them from the shop floor and try them during the show. An activity session was also incorporated into the booklet so delegates could put what they had learned into practice after the broadcast.
The client was very excited to launch M&S Food “On Air” and it received excellent feedback from senior leaders and ‘listeners’ across a number of stores. With this new approach, more M&S store colleagues than ever before were able to hear the key business messages for the season at the same time, without having to leave their store.
