Up Up and Away for Arcadia
It’s no secret that the lure of a well designed store window will prove irresistible to passing customers, enticing them to cross the threshold from casual passer-by to serious shopper. That’s why Arcadia is now raising its level of visual merchandising to new heights, to make the most of double-height glass-fronted window bays and create engaging powered and well-lit displays.
Following a successful installation project of bespoke EcoRIG systems in Topshop and Topman in Cork at the end of last year, Arcadia has sought the help of EcoRIG to solve various similar visual merchandising challenges across a number of its stores in Eldon Square shopping centre.

Offering a range of bespoke visual merchandising systems to suit a variety of needs, EcoRIG recently designed, produced and installed 10 specially tailored systems into Arcadia’s Topshop, Topman, Burton, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins stores in Newcastle, to help them maximise the available space and produce high impact and engaging window displays.
In both Topshop and Topman, EcoRIG installed six Raft Systems, which can be tailored to suspend all types of display collateral including lights, graphics props and decorations. These particular systems included remote control lighting, a graphic bar, a visual merchandising hanging grid and four LED spotlights per raft, helping the in-store VM teams to have more control of their space and create more frequent window changes without spending extra time or money.
Burton and Dorothy Perkins each had a 2m x 800mm EcoRIG Grid System fitted whilst Miss Selfridge required two, allowing them all to suspend, raise and lower props to a safe working height ready for a quick changeover. The new systems offer the stores additional space to merchandise more stock with less time and effort.
Visual merchandising is critical to Arcadia’s success. Window displays are a big advertising medium and play a vital part in establishing brand loyalty and attracting new customers. With the high street facing increasing competition from the internet, stores need to respond much quicker to new trends and take full advantage of their promotional space to create a must visit retail destination.
