We believe that sustainable practice should be instinctive

Whether at home, in the office or with our clients, we are determined to make sustainability 'Second Nature'.

So, we've embarked on an ambitious programme, to inform and energise our own people and the people we work with.

'Second Nature' is about living life in a way that ensures the people and the surroundings we take for granted today are still around tomorrow.

It's not an empty policy statement to help us tick a few boxes; it's about creating a sustainable commercial culture through a deep and lasting behavioural change.

Step by step, we are educating and engaging our colleagues, clients and suppliers alike to think and act responsibly. From reducing waste, pollution and carbon emissions to looking after our workforce and local community, verifiable and sustainable social, economic and environmental practice is core to the our way of life.

It's not just about being GREEN......it's about PEOPLE!

Leeds' Universities go to the Ball

The Leeds Universities’ annual Summer Ball has become one of the most significant dates on their social calendar, and for the fourteenth consecutive year we made sure this was a Summer Ball to remember. Over 8,000 guests enjoyed a fun-filled night with music performances across four arenas and a festival funfair, all set within the beautiful grounds of Lotherton Hall.

Constantly looking for ways to increase the sustainability of our events and improve on previous performance this was the first year that the Summer Ball was a glass-free event. Glass-free events are not only a beneficial health and safety measure but as plastic is lighter and more widely recycled, this change also helped to reduce carbon emissions and landfill waste.

Almost all of the guests attending the event took advantage of the shuttle bus transport to and from the venue.  Getting the shuttle bus has come to be seen by the students as part of the Summer Ball experience, allowing guests to begin socialising and build excitement for the event before they arrive at the venue.  And as the shuttle bus was included in the ticket price, it also provided guests with a convenient and safe ride home at the end of the night.

In addition to promoting sustainable travel, the Summer Ball presented us with a great opportunity to offer work experience opportunities to local students, and support our commitment to the Backing Young Britain scheme. Two Event Management students from Leeds Metropolitan University joined us for a week of hard work and practical experience on site at Lotherton Hall, commenting that they loved getting involved and seeing behind the scenes. As a result of their work at the Summer Ball, one of the students has now secured a year-long placement, enabling them to continue to develop their skills and experience in the events industry.

Leeds Universities’ Summer Ball is a great example of how sustainable initiatives can be integrated into an event, promoting sustainability while at the same time developing and improving the experience for guests. The close working relations between us, client, suppliers and contractors ensures that everyone is working towards the same common goal of making sustainability second nature.
